I’m in dire need of design inspiration for Clare’s room here in Beigeland. We lived in the West Connecticut house in Bellingham when she was born, so Xander’s childhood bedroom, which looked like this:
became this:
My mom bought an armoire and bookshelf for the baby-to-be and I borrowed a white crib, bedding, and changing table from a friend. I kept the room pretty simple, and I loved it.
When we moved to Olympia, I returned all the cute things on loan and put up Xander’s old crib; I didn’t bother with a changing table. Beige walls, mis-matched furniture, wall-to-wall carpet — I simply felt uninspired. I wish I could remember that shade of green at the old house, because I think painting Clare’s walls would make a huge difference in my level of excitement for decorating the space.
As it stands, the only thing different in her new room is the addition of a couple Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls my mom recently gave me from my childhood, plus a couple new ones.
